Game Recap:
The Dreadsox let a close game slip away against HLA Razorbacks, keeping it a close 10-8 game until they gave up 5 runs in the top of the seventh inning. HLA got on the board early, as a couple of unearned runs scored after back-to-back errors by Kurt “Lil’ Hurt” Hayashida at shortstop. The Lil’ Hurt quickly made up for his fielding difficulties in the bottom of the second, pounding a 2 RBI double to tie the game at 2. The Dreads denied the Razorbacks from scoring any runs in the top of the second inning, then got three runs in the bottom frame, fueled by triples by outfielders Stephanie “Stun Gun” Dunniway and Eric “Shady” Shadle. The Dreads quickly gave up their 5-2 lead in the third inning, though. The hairy pigs dropped base hit after base hit into the gaps, and tallied 8 runs in the inning. Both teams tightened up on defense after that, as the Dreads failed to score a run in the third and fourth innings, but held the Razorbacks scoreless in the 4th. The Dreads then started to chip away at the lead, holding HLA to a base hit and no runs in the fifth, then scoring a couple runs in the bottom frame. After again holding HLA at bay in the top of the 6th, the Dreads added another run to make cut HLA’s lead to 2. But, after the Razorback bats were held at bay for three innings, they again began to belt a string of base hits. The Dreads could not recover from the 5 runs scored in the inning, as they were shut down with the bases loaded to end the game.

Defensive Play of the Game:
With no outs, and a runner on first in the fourth, Leah from HLA got a base hit into left field. LF Stephanie “Stun Gun” Dunniway fielded the ground ball, and threw to 2B “Shaggy” Sheri Smith. Foolishly, the runner from first base tried to make it to third base, but Shaggy threw a bullet to 3B Vince “Snagglepuss” Brooks, who applied the tag on the stunned runner.

Offensive Play of the Game:
OF Eric “Shady“ Shadle’s triple in the bottom of the second inning helped the Dreads collect their short-lived 5-2 lead. Shady ended the game with a triple, a double, and a single — a home run away from the cycle

Laugh of the Game:
With one out, and a runner on first in the second inning, Stephanie “Stun Gun” Dunniway scooped up a ground ball hit into the left field gap. She came up throwing, intending to keep the batter from going to second. Unfortunately, the Stun Gun misfired, and launched a scud high into the atmosphere. As the rest of the Dreadsox watched the ball float high into the air, falling between second base and right field, the batter decided to go for second base. Luckily, RF Eric “Shady” Shadle was able to field the ball, and fire to SS Kurt “Li’l Hurt” Hayashida, who was covering second. The tag was applied for the second out of the inning.
